Media & Network competitiveness cluster: The imaging of the future is being invented in Brittany
The global Media & Networks competitiveness cluster carries out research, development, innovation and testing, with emphasis on the new digital imaging technologies and fixed or mobile networks.
Focussing on new uses and new services being developed jointly with contents specialists, the clusters covers the Brittany and Pays de la Loire areas.
This is one of the few clusters in the world to be working on the convergence of three major high-value sectors i.e. audiovisual, telecommunications and information technologies.
The cluster’s research, development and innovation projects are based on seven areas of expertise:
- Image-chain services from HD TV to Rich Media.
Modify the production chain and develop content access and personalization tools and services.
- Images on the move
Design and experiment new content and use formats obtained through the encounter between the worlds of broadcasting and mobile communication.
- Image networks
Anticipate networks and network technologies of the future: optical technologies, Ipv6 protocols for the Internet of the future, New Generation Network, new radio and home network technologies.
- Content electronic distribution
Design the various components of the content distribution chain within an “all IP” symmetrised technology.
- Network, content and personal data security
Help protect both the rights and environments of content creators as well as users.
- Acceptance, interoperability and convergence platforms
Validate all technical interactions, be the cluster’s showcase and a platform available to players.
- Virtual reality and augmented reality in a network
Design new services which combine virtual reality and augmented reality technologies with networks.*
* immersion in a virtual 3D world created by computer generation or overlays of real-time images of the real world.
With 885 companies, the Media & Networks competitiveness cluster provides 50,000 ICT jobs, almost 15,000 of them in research and development.
